Once elected as Judge here in Clayton County, one of my first objectives will be to initiate a mental health court. I have observed various accountability courts address issues involving alcoholism and drug addiction through DUI and Drug Court. However, many individuals with various mental illnesses are over looked and go through the criminal justice system without their illnesses being addressed, which will only lead to higher recidivist rates for those individuals. It is necessary and it is time for Clayton County to create a mental health court.
When elected, I will also push to improve the relationship of the judiciary and the community through education and much dialog between the two. I will also continue to strive to assist in reducing the recidivist rate by continuing my endeavors in initiating alternative programs for crime prevention.
My journey for Justice started when I graduated from Villanova School of Law in 1986 and I will continue the fight throughout my tenure on the bench.
